Why is Bitcoin mining halal at all?

Mining is real productive work (Amal): expending energy, securing a network, earning a documented digital asset. The permissibility of mining and holding BTC rests on well-established fiqh conditions — chiefly that the structure avoids Riba, Gharar, and Maysir, and that the capital itself is halal. Mizan was built from day one to satisfy every one of those conditions, and our incoming Sharia Supervisory Board will publish its signed fatwa on exactly these questions before launch.

Is the partner's diminishing share really sharia-compliant?

Yes — Musharaka Mutanaqisa is one of the most-discussed contemporary structures, formalised in AAOIFI Standard 12. The key is that the partner's share is bought back at fair market value at each step, not at a pre-agreed inflated price (which would smuggle in Riba). Our Aqd specifies a NAV-based buy-back, audited monthly.

What if BTC price collapses?

Your Hissah loses value pro-rata. There is no fixed return — that is what makes it Musharaka and not Qard. The Sharia Board (seating for 2026) will vet all marketing materials to ensure no fixed-return language is ever used.

How is Zakat handled?

We provide a built-in Zakat calculator in the cabinet. Your Hissah and accumulated Ribh are valued at the lunar-year reporting date. You decide where to disburse — we do not deduct or hold Zakat for you.

Are your operating costs Tayyib (wholesome)?

Accepted Answer

Yes. 100% hydroelectric power, no fossil fuels, no extraction-economy revenue streams. Salaries, hosting, software — all from halal counterparties. The operator share (Mudaraba 20%) covers these and is transparent in our annual report.

Is leverage or margin offered?

Accepted Answer

No. Mizan offers no leverage, no margin product, no collateralised debt. These are common in conventional crypto-mining services and they violate at least one of Riba/Gharar/Maysir. Hexora (our conventional sister brand) offers them; Mizan does not.

What about Salah and operations?

ASICs run continuously — they cannot be paused without losing block rewards. However, Mizan's accounting cycle and customer-support windows pause during the five daily Salah times in our Ethiopian operations centre. This is a small operational practice, fully compatible with 24/7 mining, that we believe expresses the Tayyib intent of the project.

Who carries the risk?

All Hissah holders, in proportion to their share. That is what makes profit-sharing real. Equipment failure is covered by the Takaful pool; market risk is shared.

What happens at Tamlik?

Accepted Answer

Your Hissah reaches 100%. The asset is legally yours; you can continue mining through Mizan, sell on the secondary market, or take physical delivery (subject to international shipping and customs).

Question 10

Can non-Muslims invest with Mizan?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The structure is fully halal but legally open to all jurisdictions where crypto-asset partnerships are permitted. Many ESG-conscious non-Muslim investors choose Mizan over Hexora for its cleaner contractual structure.
